Jiva Solicitors LLP website design and content migration into CMS

This website project was a doddle as the content already existed, the information architecture was just poorly structured and the design was ancient. Having reworked the site map, we began work on the fun stuff designing a new online identity.

Working directly with their marketing department on this project, we were able to take a completely different approach as they had a number of new business initiatives they wanted to roll out on their website. We held some hands on system training and consultation sessions throughout this project, using our CMS (Content Management System) to wireframe their new website. It was great to see the clients joy in seeing how easy is was to finally take control over this key business function themselves.

Once the information architecture was completed we were able to focus our attention on what most marketing departments like doing, which is discussing their design ideas. With the marketing department now taking complete control over their communications, we were conscious we didn't want to end up creating a design that could potentially box themselves in again. A primary objective for the site was that the resulting design considered the flexibility for content growth without breaking the website.

Originally when we started this project the company was named Alexander Samuel but during the project, there was a company buy out which was obviously deflating for everyone concerned. Yet once we demonstrated the power of CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) with a change of logo and a few tweaks to the colour palette we were able to re-brand the site in minutes and get the project was then back on track.

The main challenge with this project was reassuring their IT department that they didn't need to physically own the software or resulting website. More often than not these concerns are usually about the management of emails and domains. We have no interest with creating an additional tier of complexity to this key IT business functions, when not required.

With our CMS being a hosted solution we offer a generous allowances of free bandwidth and data storage catering for 95% of our customers' websites, yet for those high end users we have cheaper 3rd party services to tap into. We are continuing to track the site's growth through their website's statistics as it continues to generate improved natural search engine results placement utilising default system features and extremely clean code produced by our CMS.
