Brighton Estate Agent GK Whites website design gets a fresh face lift

Having originally spoken with GK Whites Estate Agents about re designing their website years ago, I was delighted to be called back and invited to discuss their complete online brand design and marketing.
The Briefing ...
The website design was initially the main driver with the customer wanting a strong online visual identity that would last for a number of years, catering for growth of content and increasing demands from the Internet. Oh yes, they also wanted ... circles, curves and seasonal pictures.
First we had to establish a web Strategy!
Having had a static website for 8 years there was much work to be done to establish good natural search engine rankings in such a competitive market as the estate agents. Also, we had no statistical data to learn from their old website production.
Therefore, our initial challenge was to identify the long term objectives for the site then build a design around some existing website components to deliver the first phase working to a tight deadline and fixed budget.
How much emphasis should be placed on design?
Although a website design is hugely important allowing the end user to make a quick decision about your brands' credibility in a matter of seconds, after the initial impact the content must draw the end user deeper into the site to fulfil some objectives otherwise, what's the point.
We focused most of our attention on designing a fresh and vibrant new website design with flexibility to cater for business growth and increased publication of regular content. To encourage growth of content we introduced a secondary tier of navigation using the site more as a tool rather than just a brochure website. A blog will be introduced shortly to add content to increase the site exposure in search engines further.
So. What was the Conclusion?
It was imperative to get something up and running ASAP to start building a snapshot of the brands' current exposure and learn from the results. Once we eliminated the technical barriers of working on the Internet ideas started to flow and the project sped along.
Being sensitive to the time and budget restraints faced by small businesses we've given GK Whites Estate Agents new solid foundations with the customer being able to take greater control of their website activities and continually justify expenditure through measured results and calculated decisions.
