Jonathan Jay's Success Track what a great concept for small businesses
I started changing my business marketing strategy the moment I walked in my front door. I've not even taken my hat off and made a cup of tea yet!
Having just returned from a weekend of intense learning (Sat / Sun 9 -5) and a 3 hour drive there and back (not the way most people spend their weekends I know) I had a fantastic weekend. I would highly recommend any Start up or SME that's been relying on word of mouth sales, to go and do this course immediately.
With businesses going bust left right and centre, you can't rely on this method of marketing anymore. I've returned from this weekend totally inspired with the confidence and clarity to radically changing the focus of our sales and marketing strategy, starting from now.
It's only £149 (+VAT) and worth every penny.
Jonathan Jay is an successful entrepreneur, business coach and self-made millionaire who is also a fantastic, inspirational presenter. Over the course of the weekend Jonathan shares a wealth of knowledge and proven techniques, for crafting successful sales and marketing strategies.
Guy Levin also gave an exceptional presentation on strategic web development. A lot of people still tend to think of the web as being complicated, yet with Guy's simplicity and humor quite literally energised the audience. I know I'll be singing their praises for a long time.
Have you been relying on word of mouth marketing?
As Jonathan said in his opening line, "if you've been relying on word of mouth, you've been avoiding sales". Having spent all weekend, listening, learning and sharing experiences with a great bunch of like minded people from varied industries, this appears to be a common mistake.
There was also another thing we had in common, we'd all made the effort to attend the course each having recognised the need to re focus our sales and marketing efforts. I've never seem so many people buzzed up energised about their businesses by the end of the weekend.
You never stop learning. I just love it!
I was never a big reader at school but when I built my first website some 10 years ago, I was immediately excited about the future of business. What I didn't realise was how much there was to learn and after this weekend it would seem there's still a long way to go.
When I begun teaching myself website stuff asking mum to buy me the Flash 4 Bible for Christmas. She thought I'd seen the light, I had but not in that way. The book was 3" thick and I read it from cover to cover. I read different stuff these days, but still just as enlightening.
When you can't see the woods for the trees.
It's great working as a web design agency Brighton, the UK's new media hub and all that, with the seagulls echoing in the background of customer phone calls. Yet, suddenly out of know where, there seems to be hundreds of web based business services down here.
Listening to Jonathan Jay speak, made me realise this situation is not unique to our industry. As the grip on the economy continues tighten, most businesses are having to reevaluate their sales and marketing strategies. Competition is now fierce and you must do the same.
Are you connecting with prospective buyers?
The business world is extremely savvy thanks to the Internet, do you really think you'd win back your existing clients if you had to re-tender for the contact. Attend as many events as possible to test your market proposition. You'll soon see if people still connect with your brand.
Networking isn't for everyone but once you get over your initial ego, you'll find it's not that scary after all and can actually be quite fun. Prepare yourself so that you can describe your business quickly and succinctly. Try and make your product or service irresistible to buy.
Suddenly the penny dropped...
We've been proactively remodeling our own business over the last few months adapting to the growing demands of the web. We were about to get our trumpets out to start promoting the launch of our exciting new online business solution, when we realised our own fatal mistake.
Having a niche target audience is essential for your sales and marketing to succeed and during this weekend away I had my own light bulb moment. As such, I've decided to temporarily pull the reins on the launch of our new marketing material while I redefine our USP and target audience.
Size is so important. How big's your funnel?
"Your target audience must be narrow and deep and not wide and shallow", quote - Jonathan Jay. We're developing a very unique combination of web based business products and services that we could service an extremely wide and varied market reach. That's been our problem.
Yes we build websites, but we now also completely run our business online. If you're a business entrepreneur excited, yet sometimes confused by, the changing face of web and would like to know how you too could slash your overheads, I'll be explaining how so join our Newsletter.
